As seen by Elvarlyn. Posted under Lithmeria as a Misc log.

Fishing in Lithmeria is a way of making some money on the side as well as offering a chance to secure crafting materials.

Catching a fish is done through a skill-tester mini-game that takes a little while to get good at. The time delay you can see at the start is 20 minutes of me failing utterly at catching anything because I'm uncoordinated and dopey.

You cast your line into the water and wait for a bite. Then you see the interface visible in the log below (you can't tell on the log below, but reel, play and release are actually MXP buttons that can be clicked). The number of # symbols along the bar represents the remaining strength of the fish. The color of the bar represents the tightness of the line. The words in brackets represent how far away the fish is.

A fisherman has access to three commands.
-- Reel: decreases distance, tires the fish slightly but sharply increases the tightness of the line.
-- Play: tires the fish greatly, slightly increases both distance and tightness
-- Release: decreases tightness, increases distance and tires the fish slightly.

To catch a fish, one must reel it all the way in without allowing the line to snap, which can happen when the tightness of the line is too high or the fish gets too far. A fish can also slip its hook if it's left at too high a strength for too long without being tired out.
